Canada has passed a new law related to work for international students.

Until now International Students could work 20 hours per week.https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/study-canada/work/work-off-campus.html But new legislation passed by the federal government allows these international students to work full time as long as they continue to meet the conditions of their study permit.

“So the students who are earning who are working very hard to earn their tuition fee and all the living expense can have a better opportunity to fulfill all their need and do wonders in their field,” said Abhishek Sharma, an international student from St. Clair College.

University of Windsor student Nikhil Pimplekar said he is a bit worried about how it may impact student studies.

“It is a good news that international students can work 40 hours a week and it is a good opportunity for us to earn a good amount and actually we can fulfill our needs as here it is so costly,” Pimplekar said. “But I think the drawback here is like this money people will became greedy and they focus on earning then the major factor which is like they are here to study so I think yeah, it’s gonna be a drawback.”

From November 15, 2022, until December 31, 2023, international students can work more than 20 hours per week off campus while attending schools.
