Work-to-rule at local schools
Promising students’ education would not be impacted, 83,000 elementary school teachers began a work-to-rule campaign in Ontario earlier this week.
According to the unions, the students’ learning will not be impacted and there will still be student-related activities approved during the job action. A Twitter account called “Teachers Unite” has been very active since the start of the work-to-rule.
“As Minister of Education, @Sflecce, you MUST put students first, but you won’t. Your contract demands will further erode public education here in Ontario. ON teachers are standing up for students by not rolling over and giving in. #etfo #osstf #oecta #aefo,” said a tweet posted by the account.
The campaign begins Nov. 26 and Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario members said their goal is to turn up the heat on Doug Ford and his education minister Stephen Lecce.
