YMCA receiving $900K in funding over the next three years
The YMCA of Windsor, Ont. will receive $900,000 to help fund services that provide employment for people with disabilities.
The Y Works Opportunities Program is a service the YMCA provides to help people with disabilities get a chance to get back to the workplace.
The program runs for 12 weeks and it includes workshops, seminars and paid opportunities to help connect people with employment opportunities.
Jacquie Rumiel, the vice president of newcomers & Community services stated that the YMCA has been very successful in running the program for the past three years already. “We had over 87 per cent success rate of finding people positions in the community, so we hope to help another 160 people over the next three years to help them get into the work force,” Rumiel said.
The influx of cash came from the federal government and will fund the program across South Western Ontario for the next three years.
