Young drivers distracted by phones
Studies show that ages 18 to 24 make up 71 per cent of drivers that check their phone while driving.
This week is National Teen Driver Safety Week and people are encouraged to look at lists of tips to be safe on the road, from setting phones to airplane mode so drivers can focus, to passengers speaking up if the driver is distracted. Those caught driving distracted face fines up to $1,000, a loss of three demerit points, and a three-day license suspension for a first infraction.
