Windsor Zombie Walk is a fun, free event that takes place each year providing funds and non-perishables for a zombie-themed charity helping people in need.

This event is organized by Windsor Scarehouse where zombies and survivors walk from MacDougall Street to Jackson Park, participants are encouraged to donate what they can.

Scarehouse organizer and co-founder Shawn Lippert said all proceeds goes to the Downtown Mission.

“We do it every year. We partnered up with the Windsor zombie walk want to say in 2018 We had one year off during the pandemic, but we will keep it going ever since this is happening,” said Lippert. “This is what we end up having. When we organize it properly, you have a good turnout like this.”

The zombies gathered at 5:30 p.m. in the Scarehouse yard where kids and families dressed like brides, clowns, soldiers, and nuns. Some participants spent hours doing makeup.

“I spent five hours on this make up,” said Nathan Nespolan. “I woke up pretty early and got all this done. It’s pretty likely the process starting with the latex and then doing all the blood and the makeup goes onto it. I came out here just to have some fun.”

“I’m a little nervous I guess for the first time,” said Gerry Willsie. “First time I’ve ever done something like the skin effect, I just got the outfit from value village for $13, added some stuff to it.”

Organizers said it was such a hit they will host another zombie walk in 2023.
