Canadians gather to honour Veterans, remember history

“Freedom should never be taken for granted.” —–Nelson Mandela.

Canadians will wear a red poppy, listen to bells toll and reflect during two minutes of silence 11 a.m. Sunday to recognize Veterans who sacrificed so much for our freedom.

Remembrance Day is a day to reflect on the people who fought for Canada and for peace. This year’s Remembrance Day has more significance than usual because it is the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

To mark this occasion, bells will ring a hundred times at churches across Canada.
