HMCS Hunter Marine hosts careers expo
On November 1-2, this year’s Marine Career Expo was held at the HMCS Hunter.
Recruiters from the Royal Canadian Navy, the Canadian Coast Guard and other Maritime industry employers and institutions attended to inform locals about marine job opportunities.
“This event is to introduce Canadians into the marine sector,” said Chief Petty Officer, Doug Bacon. “We take the opportunity to make sure Canadians are aware of the services we all have”.
Bacon said he encourages young people who are interested to consider joining a local sea cadet corps. Those over the age of 16 can join a naval reserve group, such as the HMCS Hunter.
The event showcased the maritime trades within Canada and other Marine industry affiliated career paths, such as policing.
The event also offered the opportunity for attendees to experience being a passenger on a rigid hull inflatable boat.
