Solar Eclipse expected to attract large crowds
Today a spectacular and rare celestial event is set to unfold over North America. As the Moon aligns between Sun and the Earth, a total Solar Eclipse will be clearly visible in Ontario for the first time Since 1979.
Lake Erie North shore falls in the path with three minutes of totality and a large crowd is expected to view the event on Monday afternoon. Congestion traffic jams are expected in the area before, during and after the event.
People outside the path of totality will observe a partial solar eclipse, during which the sun is not hidden in totality.
Follow some safety tips including do not look directly at the sun or using a window or mirror and consider watching the eclipse on TV or online.
Sunglasses, smoked glasses and some forms of welding glasses will not protect the eyes from serious retinal damage or the risk of blindness.
Only wear eclipse glasses that meet the ISO 12312-2:2015 standards.
